Poulton Gala 2017 Report

Thank you to everyone who turned out to watch, participate in or support this year’s Poulton-le-Fylde Gala.

Please see our Gallery for more images of the day.

Poulton saw an impressive turn out as people flocked to the town to watch one of the largest parades to date! The Nursery Rhyme themed parade left Poulton Civic Centre at 12 noon and made its way round the town on one of the sunniest days of the year so far. The crowds followed into Market Place where Deputy Mayor, Cllr Julie Robinson officially opened the Gala celebrations before eight-year-old Phoebe Lyons was crowned Poulton-le-Fylde Gala Queen for 2017/2018.

A fantastic afternoon of live entertainment followed, with dance performances from JC Dance, Blackpool & Fylde Dance Academy, Singleton Cloggers, Barefoot Bellydance to name but a few. The day was finished off with live music from Happy Daize, the happiest band on the Fylde Coast and the fantastic trio, Jeannie & the Tonics.

Thornton Galas visiting queen won the trophy for the best float while St Chads Little Gang won the best walking group as ‘Peter Pan’. Blackpool and the Fylde Dance Academy (Trolls) won best children’s fancy dress and the best adult fancy dress was presented to the Scottish Dancers.

Kahuna Hair & Beauty Salon of Chapel Street won the best dressed window display and John Earnshaw of John Earnshaw Independent Financial Advisors won the Steve Rolland memorial trophy, for effort in the community for his tireless support of community events based in Poulton.

We hope you had a fantastic day and once again thank you to all who have supported us this year in everything we have done and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2018!

Poulton Gala 2015 Report

Katie - 2015 Poulton Gala Queen

Poulton Gala 2015 took place on June 6th and continues it’s long history. There were an encouraging number of first time entries and all who took part in the parade were of a high standard. The wind was trying to send us back around the extended route but we managed to keep to schedule. The community of Poulton showed it’s spirit and there was a massive turn out which encouraged the participants. The Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Tom and Mrs Alene Balmain walked in the parade and awarded the cup for the best mobile tableaux to Poppy Jack’s and the best walking group to our Barefoot Bellydance.

Katie was crowned ‘2015 Poulton-le-Fylde Gala Queen’ and the entertainment in the Market Place was superb right through the day. Led by our talented singer and compere Tom McLeod, we finished the day with performances from the young people from the Upbeat Rock Academy, which trains the young in musicianship. We unfortunately missed the older group from the Academy due to the threat of rain.

The whole Gala Committee would like to thank the visiting Queens and retinues, all the parade participants, all who entertained and the most important people, the community of Poulton who turned out to support the event.
