Parade Information

We would like all parade participants to be at Cottam Hall Playing Fields for no later than 11.00am, please try and arrive a bit earlier as it may be busy. Access will be available during the morning if you require time to set-up.

Please ask parents to drop off any children safely on Blackpool Old road, vehicle access to Cottam Hall will be restricted. Alternatively, you can drop off at the end of Chester Avenue and walk across the field.

We will assemble the parade on the car park area, to the right as you go through the entrance (behind Poulton FC football pavillion).

There will be judging taking place for various categories prior to the parade leaving.

The parade will leave promptly at noon and will take approximately 1 hour to walk round the town and back to Cottam Hall Playing Fields. The parade is anticipated to arrive at Cottam Hall at approximately 13:00 – 13:30 (depending where you are positioned in the parade).

Please try to stay within your allotted space(s) and retain your place/order within the parade.

Please be considerate of our neighbours and try and walk or get dropped off where possible. There is limited disabled parking at Cottam Hall. Please message us if you require a space, please note this is not guaranteed! The nearest pay and display car park is Wheatsheaf Way (behind The Elk / Weatherspoons). Time limits apply on the Teanlowe centre and Aldi car parks so please be aware.

We will have portaloos at Cottam Hall (Gents, Ladies and Disabled)

This year’s route is slightly different so please have a look.

During the parade

We try to discourage anyone other than parade participants to walk alongside the procession. We appreciate that this is difficult with small children but please try to keep numbers down wherever possible – or ask that parents/helpers dress-up and join in. Anyone in fancy dress is most welcome!!

Because the route is long, it is important that we keep the parade tight. Please do not allow large gaps between groups leaving, perhaps, just a car’s length in-between so that groups are distinct but not too far apart. There will be helpers along the way that will be attempting to control this but your help would be much appreciated. Ensure that drivers of vehicles do not stop and leave the vehicles at any time and no ‘unscheduled’ stoppages please.

Parade finish

Visiting Queens and their retinues will be offered refreshments before the crowning ceremony at 14:30.

There will be a marquee for all Gala Queens and their retinues to eat their refreshments in.

All floats / vehicles will be allowed into the car park at Cottam Hall at the end of the parade, for the safe disembarking of passengers. If you wish to leave your float in the car park, please let us know and we will try and accommodate.

Walking groups will be directed onto the Gala field at Cottam Hall where they can stay together as groups if desired.

1st Aid

We have first aiders and paramedics around on the day. If you require first aid please contact a marshal who will have a radio and will be able to contact the first aiders or come and see us next to the stage if you are on the gala field at Cottam Hall.

In the event of rain

If the weather is bad, the parade will still carry on as planned so please dress appropriately. In case of extreme weather we will communicate an appropriate contingency. The Gala committee will make the final decision regarding the plan in cases of extreme weather. This will be communicated to all via email and our Facebook page.

General reminder

If you have not already confirmed with us that you are bringing a vehicle we will need notice and you will need to ensure that you have adequate insurance.

If you know of anyone else that would like to join the parade please let us know – walking late comers are always welcome.

This year we will be judging the floats and the walking groups so good luck to you all.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all on the day!!

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
